This confused me when I was doing quadratics so I just thought I'd mention when square rooting a number you should ALWAYS put a negative and positive sign outside the square root
1. To find y intercept make x = 0 and you find y = -1 to find x ints make y = 0 rearrange equation so x is on it's own that = +-√2
To find y int y=0-1 y= -1
To find x ints 0=1/2x^2 -1 1=1/2x^2 2=x^2 x =+-√2
so x ints =(+-√2,0) y ints =(0,-1)
To find turning point go half way between x coordinates that's 0 and put that in place of the x in the equation
so the turning point is the same as the y intercept (0, -1)
2.x ints = (+-√3/2,0) yint = (0,3) turning point = (0,-3)
3.x ints +-√49 =(7,0) (-7,0)
4.5x^2 + 25 = 90 5x^2 = 65 x^2 = 13 x= (3.6,0) (-3.6,0)
5.x = (3,0) (-3,0)
6.x= (1,0) (-1,0)
7. x = (4,0) (-4,0)
8. x = (20,0) (-20,0)
