Because I've never seen any power plants here in South Florida. I heard that there are only a handful of power plants in Florida. But where are they? Also, do substations produce electricty or do they only distribute it?

Thank you, in advance.

There are nuclear power plants near Homestead and also in the Fort Pierce area. Also, FPL operates some coal-fired plants such as the one in Apollo Beach near Tampa. Substations only distribute electricity, often they contain equipment to step down voltages too.

Substations are use only to distribute and maintain the quality of power during transmission.
