Just remember that climate isn't the ONLY thing that affects happiness and quality of life. Indeed, it is often one of the primary factors and can cause depression, etc. but it isn't the ONLY thing that can do so. Even more important is amount of sunlight, which is not even taken into account in climate. Also important are social factors, such as those I discussed above (development, income, government, social services, etc.).
Ohh, they are surely very happy. Because if you check the List of countries by suicide rate you will see that Finland, Sweden, Iceland lead the pack in suicides by 100,000 inhabitants. Thus I guess if you do not commit suicide you are indeed very happy to have survived. People in Asia and the United States kill themselves less. Now people in Northern Africa and in Central America kill themselves even less. I guess they just don't kill themselves that much because they don't live in a socialist paradise where everyone is just peachy.
