How come people STILL don't know the difference between Britain and England

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-04-24] [Hit: ]
Its not completely clear to me.-I dont understand your question?????......
They say something about Britain and then carry on referring to it as England. Is there an actual reason for this ignorance or is it just plain stupidity?

-
As several people seem to be less than clear...

England, Wales and Scotland are three countries that collectively form Britain (aka Great Britain). Add Ulster (aka Northern Ireland) and that's the United Kingdom.

Leaving the politics and turning to geography, add in the rest of the island of Ireland (ie. the independent state of Eire) plus the Isle of Man (a British crown dependency that's not part of Britain or the UK) and you have the British Isles. You might want to chuck in the Channel Islands as well, but they're much nearer to France than the south coast of England.

-
They don't *need* to know, so their ignorance doesn't affect their life / work. It's awful isn't it? But let's focus on ensuring British people know the geopolitical differences, and leave the rest of the world to themselves.

-
Ignorance, I fear. You must educate politely. But only if it is requested, however. If you are obviously annoyed others may consider it rude.

-
What about the difference between Britain and the United Kingdom? It's not completely clear to me.

-
I don't understand your question?????????????????????????????

-
Then what's the damn difference?

-
I dont know why. It's not that hard to know the difference. They're just stupid :P

-
