i have to design a 6-storied building.now i totally forgot how to calculate the load.how can i assume the load nd what is the following steps?plz suggest asap

u have to calculate the dead load, live load, wind load, earthquake load, snow load and hydrostatic pressure on the foundation wall.
the dead load is the weight of concrete and steel and objects like hvac and boilers etc.
the live load are occupancy load specific by the building code. u have to buy a copy of the most current building code.
the wind load are wind pressure on the building facade. wind also cause lateral vibartions of the buildig in resonance.
earthquake load are the response of the building to earthquake plus the shear force acting on ground and on each floors plus the whip-splash acting at the tip of the building.
u have to design the foundation which is another subject by itself.
the most important of all, u have to select the material: where it is concrete, steel or timber. and what type of steel structure: whether it's moment frame, brace frame, steel frame plus shear wall etc....
space, color, fire proofing, and egress can easy be design just by following the building code or work with an junior architect to deal with it.....

theoretically, dead load build up from roof down to the floor then to the foundation...so u work from the top down. but if u have use computer programs, it's a click of the button....
