Best size laptop for college if I become a mechanical engineering major? Number pad or not

youre going to wish you had the number pad.-Im halfway through chemical engineering, and really dont bring my laptop to school. Theres plenty of computer labs at school. Anyhow, Its a 15.......
The laptop I'm getting now is probably going to last me one or two years into college at least, so I'm wondering what size to get. Small laptops are easier to carry, but since a lot of classes for mechanical engineering will probably have math, should I go for a 15.5" inch laptop instead of a 13.3" laptop since the 15.5" has a number pad?

I just finished engineering school. I never brought my laptop to class, I was fine just using pencil and paper (I emphasize the use of pencils, not pens). The laptop I got has a number pad and I was extremely glad I got one like that. You're going to want to get the larger one with the number pad, you're probably not going to take the laptop to class much but especially when doing projects that require extensive calculations on Excel, you're going to wish you had the number pad.

Anyhow, Its a 15.5" with a number pad, which is GREATLY helpful with all the math thrown at you. I would recommend getting the lightest 15.5" you can find. It's the perfect size in my opinion, it's not intrusive at all if you put it on a study table with your books and what not.
