How to create a powerful electrical charge with a smaller charge and copper wire

.. Anyone know what that was called?-What you are most likely describing is not a change in POWER (as this must be conserved), but a change in VOLTAGE through a transformer - if you pass an AC voltage through the input winding of a transformer,If,......
I'm not sure of the process or machine used to do this, but on the first season of "The Colony" a device was used to convert a low level of power into a higher level of power, just by putting it through a spiraled copper wire... Anyone know what that was called?

What you are most likely describing is not a change in POWER (as this must be conserved), but a change in VOLTAGE through a transformer - if you pass an AC voltage through the input winding of a transformer, the output voltage is a function of the ratio of turns between the input and output windings -

If, for instance, you passed a 1 Volt AC signal through the input (primary) winding with 10 turns, and the output winding (secondary) has 1,000 turns, the output voltage will be 100 Volts AC.

This is how a spark voltage is generated in your car - a 12V pulse into the spark coil primary with the secondary having 5,000 times more turns in it's winding will generate 60,000 Volts to the spark plug.

In science, power has a specific meaning. It is the instantaneous rate of energy production or dissipation.

Power is not 'converted' or 'stored' in any way. It is simply a number which describes how quickly energy is going from one form to another.

There is no power inherent in an electrical charge. The charge must be *doing* something for there to be power.

Correct the guy above me has the correct answer. Its a matter of stepping up the power. Just like a transformer steps down the "power" before it gets to your house. You can step power up or down just depends on the transformer and certain other variables.

Sorry, this makes no sense.
Charge cannot create more charge without external work being done.

Then you get into power, which is NOT the same as charge. But again, you cannot create power, you can only change it from one form to another.
