There is so much of this oil that can go around. The great bulk of the world’s oil was formed at just two very brief moments of extreme global warming 90-150 million years ago and we are using it in just 2 centuries. What are YOUR THOUGHTS on what's going to happen next???

You are not thinking critically. First, what is the proof that oil is running out? Second, what is the proof that all oil was formed in the distant past? Third, what is the proof that new oil is not being formed somewhere on the planet Earth, even as we read this posting? Fourth, why do politicians around the world hedge their bets by allowing continued use of oil, if the statement you make is true? Why don't they suspend use of oil and demand development of nuclear industry, solar, and wind as the sole power source? You ask for my thoughts. The development of alternative resources is essential, not because there is an oil crisis, but because an oil shortage might develop in the future. The development of alternatives give us an opportunity to learn of the advantages (yes, there may be some) and the disadvantages (no one wants to think about this) they may have. Humans survive, as a species, because we can adapt to changing environments as well as or better than most other species. Change is what we live for, what we desire, and what we achieve. In the end, we will get exactly what we deserve, for better or for worse. Humans need to prepare for the future anticipating change, knowing it will come. In order for the species to survive we need to explore all alternatives, even when we do not see a problem; preferably before a problem emerges. Most important, humans have to think critically. Never assume that anything you read, hear, or are taught is true, until you have examined the statement(s) critically yourself.

proof that oil was formed in the "Distant" past... Only in the distant past...? Yes, I love it, too.

It dosn,t matter how the oil got here, we are going to run out in the not to distant future. The only other source of energy which can be developed to meet our increasing energy needs is NUCLEAR. All the other sources combined can never supply a significant fraction of our energy needs in the future ( solar panel and/or windmill farms large enough to supply our needs would cover most of our land area and we will run out of farmland for food if we supply our needs with Bio fuels).
We need to develop a standardized nuclear power plant and build enough of these standard designs within the next 10-30 years and become energy independent of oil.
