Ocean acidification is considered to be one of the least-publicized, but one of the potentially most serious consequences of human-influenced climate change. How is it occurring (what is happening to lower the pH of the oceans)?

Well the poles have large amounts of fresh water stored as ice. As we all know that these ice caps are slowly shrinking and thus adding more and more fresh water to the sea. So if you can imagine adding more and more non salty water to salty water, thus reducing its pH.
