Does the space shuttle need head lights when up in space

but over the daylight side it is just like daylight on Earth, except the sky is black. It is kind of like when there are very dark storm clouds in the direction away from sunset, and clear sky in the direction of sunset, when you can look toward the dark clouds and see all the things on the ground brightly lit against an almost black sky. I find it a very beautiful sight,......
or is it bright enought to see?

is space even dark?

It is only dark at night, or when the shuttle is over the night side of Earth. On the night side they do have lights in the payload bay, because space walks take longer than one orbit, but over the daylight side it is just like daylight on Earth, except the sky is black. It is kind of like when there are very dark storm clouds in the direction away from sunset, and clear sky in the direction of sunset, when you can look toward the dark clouds and see all the things on the ground brightly lit against an almost black sky. I find it a very beautiful sight, and on those rare occasions when I have seen it I imagine space looks like that. Brian Binnie who flew Space Ship One remarked how strange it was to see the sky black in broad daylight.

Not generally, although navigation lights may have been used when e.g. docking with the ISS. It's light in space unless you happen to be in the Earth's shadow which the shuttle was for roughly half its orbit. However, headlights when on the night side would not do any good at all generally: there simply isn't anything _to_ see and nothing to reflect the light back towards the shuttle.

Space is dark, except when in direct sunlight. Light doesn't scatter in space like it does on Earth. This is because our atmosphere scatters it around, there is nothing in space to scater the light like here, so when you look towards the Sun in space you can still see stars. yes they have lights, but not like you are thinking of
