Writing equations of their parabola? help please

if f(x) = x^2. Write the equations of their parabola below.

1. Y= f(x+8)

2.Y= f(x-5)

1. y = (x + 8)^2
y = x^2 + 16x + 64

2. y = (x - 5)^2
y = x^2 - 10x + 25

I don't understand exactly what you're trying to do.

If you're just plugging in f(x) to x^2 then...

1. x^2 + 16x + 64
2. x^2 - 10x +25

1. Y= f(x+8) = (x+8)^2 = x^2 +16x +64

2.Y= f(x-5) = ( x-5)^2 = x^2 -10x + 25

1. (x + 8)²

2. (x - 5)²
