Your question pertains to the last decade right?...so you'd be asking about "the American landscape pertaining to oil pumps that are actually producing oil"...You should know a couple of things. #1. The Bush administration made it illegal to pump oil out of the ground in certain areas not because theres' no oil there but because it made it easier for the Bush administration to claim that it was easier to purchase oil from Saudi Arabia at higher prices and leave American oil in the ground. (theres a reason for this) American investment in forieghn oil is best underrstood when you look at it in the refining end......We refine that oil "HERE" after it's pumped out of Saudi Arabia and shipped in ships which are insured by American companies owned by Americans who originally built the ships that the Saudi's bought from us to ship the oil over here with......it's a kind of "You scratch my back I'll scratch your's situation"..but it's mostly big business and Haliburton business which is owned by guess who?...Dick Cheyney!!!!...the ex Vice president. to guess who?...George Bush Jr....So before you write your English essay?.....maybe you should either pick another topic or write the facts the way they actually are...BTW it's still illegal to pump oil out of the ground in certain places in the United States......even though theres plenty of oil in those wells.

Oh Ok...I see. well thanks for the best answer. Let me add then that you might want to use Geo-thermal energy in your essay.....much like Greenland does...they drilled steampipes into a volcanic are nearby and power their entire country by it for free.
