geology and geography? which one has better career opportunities and better pay?

Geology concerns itself with processes on and within the Earth. It covers things such as Earth structure, crust formation, resources such as minerals and fossil fuels to things like ocean chemistry.
Geography is more concerned with how the Earth works at the surface, how it can be managed and how people impact upon the surface.
As far as employment goes they both have ample opportunities. Both fields cover climate science which is a rapidly expanding area. They both cover vast ranges of topics which will make you employable in a number of fields. I myself am a geologist and with my University degree am be able to take jobs in anything from engineering (for foundation analysis), climate sciences, the oil and minerals industry, hazard management (volcanoes and earthquakes) amongst others.

Geology - the science that deals with the dynamics and physical history of the earth, the rocks of which it is composed, and the physical, chemical, and biological changes that the earth has undergone or is undergoing.
Geography - the science dealing with the areal differentiation of the earth's surface, as shown in the character, arrangement, and interrelations over the world of such elements as climate, elevation, soil, vegetation, population, land use, industries, or states, and of the unit areas formed by the complex of these individual elements.

Geography focuses on "what's on" Earth, or it's inhabitants and land features. Geology tackles on the processes involved and the composition of the Earth. Personally, I think geology has better opportunities.
-
Geology is more science related, while geography is the earth as a whole and everything in it.
I'd say geology would have better pay in general, but it would be much harder to find a job in it.
