Could the world fall

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-04-24] [Hit: ]
Since what is built on the surface of Earth is miniscule compared to the whole planet(thats why it seems that Earth is pulling us down only; actually, WERE exerting as much proportional pull on Earth, and basically everything else, too), there wont be a difference.Even if (lets say it was possible) one excavated one side of Earth down several kilometers and piled all those spoils on the other side,......
With developing countries, China and whatnot, building all these new buildings, obviously they all weigh alot. Is there a point where all this new junk gets too heavy for the world, and it falls?

-
All this material comes from somewhere. It comes from the earth. To build these structures, the materials just get moved around. So the construction you are talking about does nothing to add any mass to the earth.

Onto what, or in what direction, would the world fall? Since what is built on the surface of Earth is miniscule compared to the whole planet (that's why it seems that Earth is pulling us down only; actually, WE'RE exerting as much proportional pull on Earth, and basically everything else, too), there won't be a difference. Even if (let's say it was possible) one excavated one side of Earth down several kilometers and piled all those spoils on the other side, it wouldn't knock the planet out of its orbit or even materially slow the planet's rotation (it would be less than a second every 10,000 years or so)...

Not fall as in the sense you would if you jumped off a cliff, but if all the mass was moved towards one side of the Earth, it would very very slowly accelerate in that direction if there was no force opposing it (gravitational pull from Sun, etc).

Not a like situation.

-
Technically, the Earth is always "falling" towards the Sun. It just has enough lateral velocity that it keeps missing. That's an orbit.

Building new buildings is moot. The mass of the Earth remains approximately the same.

-
No
the earth is not gonna fall
the sun's gravity will keep it in orbit

-
No, the Chinese will put us off balance and send the world wobbling into the sun like a screwball. You should buy insurance or something.

-
unfriendable please?

XD

-
lol no i don't think it will because of the gravitational pull.
