Phosphate ion (PO43¯) is part of phosphoric acid, H3PO4. It is used as an ingredient in many soft drinks (Coke, Pepsi, etc)

Carbonate (CO32¯) is part of sodium carbonate, used in treating pool water to keep it at the proper pH. I think Na2CO3 is used in some water softeners, but you should double check on that.

Sulfites (SO32¯) are created as a natural by-product in the making of wine. You can examine a wine bottle where, by law, there is a sulfite warning. I don't know if this counts as a real-life application, but it is part of real life. Sulfites were banned in foods because, when used, they give meat a very pink color. So, rotten meat was doused with sulfites to hide the rotting portions and then sold to people who got sick, both from the rotten meat and the presence of too much sulfite in the system.
