why is tetrachloromethane an organic compound?
-
You'll find that the difference between organic and inorganic compounds are usually arbitrary and random. A compound was defined as 'organic' or 'inorganic' before scientists understood what they actually were. So if you were to relate 'organic' with compounds that only contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, then technically tetra chloromethane is inorganic, but as said before, it's been considered 'organic' for years so today we just have to go with it haha.

tetra chloro methane is derivative of an organic compound methane CH4
so it is also organic.
as C Cl4 tetra-chloromethane or ( carbon tetra chloride)
more over it is covalent
so it is also organic.
as C Cl4 tetra-chloromethane or ( carbon tetra chloride)

The difference between inorganic and organic is man made and quite artificial. Its all chemistry at the end of the day.
