Hello I need some help with practice problems. I know the answer but I want an explanation of the answer.
total dosage strength is 500mg
solvent(diluent) added to prepare 1.5ml
Final concentration of solution prepared 280ml

QUESTION: 400 mg is ordered how many milliliters (ml) will you give?
The book says 1.4 ml given but why? is that the amout of dilutent per prepared solution

I don't understand the "Final concentration of solution prepared 280ml" mL is not a concentration unit.

If you dissolved 500 mg of drug in 1.5 mL of solvent, then the concentration of that solution is

500 mg / 1.5 mL = 333 mg / mL

If you want to administer a 400-mg dose, then

400 mg x (1 mL / 333 mg) = 1.2 mL
