A 35.0-mL solution is prepared from 2.60 grams of NaCl and a sufficient amount of water. Calculate the molarity of the solution.

Molarity is defined as (moles of solute) / (volume of solution in Liters)
So first, convert 35mL to Liters =>.035L

Now, figure out how many moles of NaCl is in 2.60 grams. So, first find the molecular mass of NaCl. Na = 23.0amu and Cl = 35.5amu (that info is on your periodic table). Now add them together to find the molecular mass of NaCl = 58.5amu. From the molar relationship you now know that 1 mole of NaCl = 58.5grams of NaCl.

So 2.60gNaCl / 58.5gNaCl = .0444 moles of NaCl

Last, just divide the moles of NaCl by the volume of solution.

.0444/.035 = 1.27M (show respect for the significant digits please!)

fist you have to know the equation for Molarity which is M=moles/Liters

Now we have to convert from grams to moles using the molecular weight (you find this by using the periodic chart) we find that the weight of NaCl = 29.98gNa + 35.45gCl by doing this addition we get 65.43g of NaCl now we divide the number of grams given over the molecular mass we just found

so, 2.6/29.98 which equals 0.0867 mol

now we have the moles now we have to convert from milliliters to one liter by multiplying the militers by 1000 and we get 0.035 Liteers

now we have everything to set up our original equation, which is the molarity equation
so, M=Moles/L

M=0.0867/0.035

and we get 1.27 M and thats youre answer.

2.6g of NaCl=.0448moles of NaCl
35ml=.035L

.0448/.035=1.28

Molarity=1.28

and hardly requires mastery of chemistry hahah

MV = grams / molar mass

volume must be in liters.

(x) (0.0350 L) = 2.60 g / 58.443 g/mol

x = 1.27 M
