Describe a practical application of using dilution in laboratory testing. Can someone please help?

Some buffers that are used a lot, are made in concentrated form, so that they do not take that much space. For example, in our lab we have a 50x (fifty times) concentrated bottle of a buffer we use in large amounts. That takes much less space. If we need it, we dilute it 50 times. So say we need 5 liters of it, we need to take 100 ml of the concentrated buffer, and add 4.9 liters of water.
