I'm planning to take Biochem as my major. But I'm not really a genius.

No. It takes determination.

Determination doesn't do it. The less smart you are, the more time you spend on the class-load. There is simply not enough time in the day for you to study if you aren't that smart, no matter how determined you are.

For the most part it takes a genius. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not a biochemist. You have to be good at math and physics, chemistry and biology. People who define "smart" by the amount of knowledge a person has retained in a given field do not understand this. But if I were you and I was accepted as a Biochem major, I would still go through with it. Even if you decide it takes too much work to keep up with the course load, there are plenty of other similar science majors you can change into which aren't as demanding.

NO! In fact the VAST majority of people with degrees of any type, are only intelligent in their area of expertise. Anything other than their major, they're as smart as a brick.
