if you prefer,This is a double displacement reaction.Cupric hydroxide, like most hydroxides (except for ammonium hydroxide and the hydroxides from the alkali and the alkaline earth metals) has low solubility and will precipitate, that is, it will form a solid.......
The product of this reaction. please explain. thx..

Cu^2+ + 2OH^- -----------> Cu(OH)2
or, if you prefer,
CuSO4(aq) + 2 NaOH(aq)------------> Cu(OH)2(s)+ Na2SO4(aq)

This is a double displacement reaction. Cupric hydroxide, like most hydroxides (except for ammonium hydroxide and the hydroxides from the alkali and the alkaline earth metals) has low solubility and will precipitate, that is, it will form a solid. It happens to be a blue gel and is rather pretty, so it's a standard demonstration of this type of reaction.
