How are proteins made in laboratories? How do we get proteins to put them in protein supplements?
How are amino acids, especially those which support life, made in laboratories? How many ways are there to make proteins and amino acids?
Note that I am asking about artificially making Proteins and Amino Acids and not any natural synthesis or occurrence.
Thanks

Protein supplements are made from naturally synthesized proteins found in egg, soy or other foods. These are then processed to yield the protein found in them. Making a protein is very expensive based upon how much raw materials are wasted to give very little desired product because of the steps to add an amino acid to a chain of amino acids. To make a free amino acid though is fairly simple in comparison to a protein. Amino acids can be made from easy organic chemistry substitution addition reactions from naturally occurring precursors.
