What is the IUPAC name for oxycodone

6.1.0^{1,13}.0^ {5,17}.......
I have looked at different websites, and keep getting different IUPAC names. How do I know which one is correct?

There are many valid IUPAC names for oxycodone:

4,5-epoxy- 14-hydroxy-3-methoxy-17- methylmorphinan-6-one

6-deoxy-7,8-dihydro-14- hydroxy-3-O-methyl-6-oxomorphine

(1S,5R,13R,17S)-17-hydroxy-10 -methoxy-4-methyl-12- oxa-4-azapentacyclo[9.6.1.0^{1,13}.0^ {5,17}.0^{7,18}] octadeca-7(18),8,10-trien-14-one

(spaces added to make Y!A happy)

There are two basic reasons there is more than one IUPAC name. One is to what extent you summarize the morphine group. The second name summarizes it completely, the last one doesnt' summarize it at all. Both approaches are valid. The other is the extent to which you specify the dominant isomer. The last does that fully, the first not at all.
