i am doing an experiment in chemistry. I know WHY it loses mass. i just need help putting it in words.
the match, before burned, was .2 grams. it lost half its mass. now its .1 grams.
it's black and thin...and very weak.
BQ: And where did the matter go?
did it go in the atmosphere. i think it might be the right answer, but i need confirmation.
thanks in advance. really appreciate it.

Yes, you basically have it right.
Some of the carbon in the matchstick combined with oxygen in the air to make carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. Both CO2 and CO are gases, and drifted away into the atmosphere. Therefore, the matchstick has less mass remaining.

Yes. It takes oxygen to make fire and the oxygen in the match burned into the atmosphere
