I heard a 40 watt bulb on a lava lamp will work for a few weeks then I also heard that 60 watt fluorescent bulbs work good too... I have a lava lamp and the bulb but would the fluorescent work better cuz of the higher wattage till I get a HPS light?

The lava lamp bulb is probably an incandescent light. It is probably going to put out harmful amounts of heat. That is just an assumption because the purpose of the light is also to heat the mixture to cause the convection currents. That heat is bad for little plants. Florescent or even a compact florescent is going to have much less heat and it also happens to have much better frequency range than an incandescent and also much more light for a given amount of energy. You could probably use florescent during the vegetative stage if you surround it in aluminum foil or mylar. Try to block all the places where the light will absorb like the dirt and it will dramatically increase the light available to the plant

Well I'm not a grower just a user but I did a school report on it and I belive the fluorescent works best
