These are the constants (control variable) environment or place the pots are kept in (temperature , humidity,light,etc) the number of seeds used, the type of seeds and the size of the pot and the type of soil.

But what is the control group?

Your control group should be a plant, in the same conditions, but a plant that has been watered. I'm thinking you're comparing milk and water and how that affects plant growth? So, milk will be your experimental group and water will be your control.
