An octopus' ability to camouflage is not linked to its eyesight, it's actually linked to proteins found on its skin and these proteins' ability to reflect all wavelengths of light that hit at any angle.
Their ability to react to the presence of a threat has been linked to their ability to see. They're colored blind but they can see polarized light.
