I keep reading about glycolysis taking place in the cytosol. This confuses me. After insulin pumps in glucose into the cell, shouldn't the lysosome be the organelle that breaks up glucose? I thought it was the lysosome's job to digest food particles.

Glycolysis does take place in the cytosol.
Lysosomes are unable to degrade small molecules such as glucose. Lysosomes are responsible for degrading macromolecules and other foreign particles that contact a cell.

In the cytosol of the cell. This is true for both eukaryotes and prokaryotes.

but glucose a sugar has specific roles in cellular functions
its definitely more in depth than that but im tired and i dont feel like scanning my papers
