what does oxidizing acetyl CoA mean, i am refering to metabolism of the citric acid cycle. Is something oxidizing acetyl CoA or is Acetyl CoA oxidizing something. also what is happening if acetyl CoA is being oxidized, like is it loosing a electron or gaining something? thanks

Acetyl CoA loses electrons when it is oxidised. These electrons are given to NAD+ and FAD to form NADH and FADH2. It also loses 2 carbons to form carbon dioxide.
Hope this helps!

oxidation is loss (oil) meaning it becomes more positive, losing electrons.
reduction is gain (rig) meaning it becomes more negative, gaining electrons.
the substance being reduced is the oxidizing agent and the substance being oxidized is the reducing agent.
