massive events can separate the species into two groups, this is usually pretty sudden and not reversible.......
I have a bio test tommorow and im getting confused between the two. they have the same definitions in my book..

Adaptive radiation is where different groups of the same species migrate to different places, and adapt to those environments to the degree where they become a different species. This is a gradual process and can be reversed half way through if they mix.

punctuated equilibrium (im not 100% sure cause ive just looked it up myself xD) is where a species changes very little under normal events. However, massive events can separate the species into two groups, this is usually pretty sudden and not reversible.
