So I was just thinking if we were once monkeys than why are monkeys still around should all of them be humans

2- As mentioned, different non-interbreeding populations of the same species will change in different ways. If one population lives in an area that it is well-suited to, its unlikely to change. If another ended up in an area it wasnt adapted too, it would be more likely to change to suit its new surroundings.......
Why all of them didn't evolve into humans??

-
A few reasons for this:

1- We didn't evolve from modern monkeys. Both humans and monkeys evolved from other, now-extinct primates. They didn't all evolve the same way because different populations that don't interbreed usually don't evolve the same way.

2- As mentioned, different non-interbreeding populations of the same species will change in different ways. If one population lives in an area that it is well-suited to, it's unlikely to change. If another ended up in an area it wasn't adapted too, it would be more likely to change to suit its new surroundings. So even if humans did evolve from modern monkeys, evolution wouldn't say there's anything wrong with this.

This has happened with humans before. Scientists believe that humans evolved first in Africa and spread out. The first humans were probably black, but as they moved further North, Vitamin D deficiency became a problem (white skin can produce more Vitamin D, but is less resistant to skin cancer), so in Europe white skin became more common. The humans who'd stayed in Africa didn't have to worry about vitamin D, so black skin was more advantageous.

Evolution isn't a magic process that converts all members of the same species in the same way. Different populations can follow wildly different paths, and may not look much each other at all. This is known as "speciation".

For example. Look at the common household cat. That cat came from the ancestor wild cat. The dogs came from wolves. Wolves and wild cats are still around and their smaller domesticated counterparts are as well. Look at it that way.

-
The monkeys you see now are not the same monkeys when people refer to the great ape->our common ancestor.

-
You got it backwards. Monkeys were once humans. Now they have evolved so they don't have to wear clothes and buy cars and groceries.

-
Because we were a different species on monkey. So they have not evolved as much as us. We aren't exactly the same as them. They have taken longer to evolve.

-
their evolution started after ours.
