A person with blood group AB has an accident and bleeds a lot of blood

A person with blood group AB has an accident and bleeds a lot of blood his 2 brother's blood groups are A and B

1) Can he receive blood from either of them
2) Why?

1) yes - he can be a reciepeint BUT not a donor

2) A has A antigen; B has B antigen; AB has both - so his body is used to A or B antegens
note that he cannot be a donor as if he gives AB to say brother A he is giving B antigen which A will reject

Yes he can receive both blood groups because AB blood types are universal receivers (Meaning they can receive blood from all blood groups). But be warned if this person is AB negative he can only receive blood from other negative blood groups such as A negative, B negative and O negative. So if his brothers where A negative or B negative it would be ok but if they either of them where positive blood groups then it would not work. But if the person is AB Positive then they can receive fro ALL blood groups no matter what. :)

They can receive blood from A or B positive if their's is positive or AB positive or...if they were negative they could receive blood from A or B negative or AB negative if they are negative.
This blood is compatible with both, hence the AB.
But...a person with A type blood is not compatible to receive blood from AB...and the same goes for a person with B type blood cannot receive AB.
