What were you doing on the day they taught this in school?
-
Yes, that's normal. It happens every month.
The part of the moon that is lit is the side facing the sun - as the moon rises in the sky the side lit by the sun appears to move in the apparent direction of the sun.
People that watch the moon notice it all the time.

yes its normal . whether its the side or bottom of the moon that is shining varies throughout the year because the earth turns as well as the moon orbits so that the position in the sky is different so the sun shines on it differently.
-
The moon does not shine. It reflects the sun. The sun is on the other side of the earth when its night time. That means the sun would reflect off the bottom side of the moon. Think about it in 3 dimensions.
-
Yes. It means the Sun is on the other side of the Earth from you which is understandable as it is night. The on the side bit are just children story illustrations or early in the evening or late in the morning.
-
Yes it is.
It all depends on the position of the Sun and the moon. the center of the bright spot will always point towards the sun./

No, not at all. It is a sign the moon is going to collapse and collide with Earth.
