It's a planet, goddammit!

The International Astronomical Union, which decides such things so that we all have the same definition for things and so don't confuse each other by using the same word for different things, laid down 3 rules for planets back in 2006.
A Planet...
1. is in orbit around the Sun,
2. has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape), and
3. has "cleared the neighbourhood" around its orbit.
Pluto was kicked off the list of planets because it failed No. 3. Mimas, Enceladus and the others fail because they AREN'T in orbit around the Sun. They're in orbit around Saturn which makes them moons.
A natural satellite or moon is a celestial body that orbits a planet, which is called its primary.
PS Got a bit of a thing about moons being planets, Name? Saturn's Moons will be so jealous...

I don't think that the moon is a planet. A planet orbits the sun not another planet. I believe that the moon was once apart of a planet but it is now currently a moon. If you say that Earth's moon is a planet, are Jupiter's moons also planets?
Earth's moon is a moon because its orbits around Earth (which is a planet) and Earth (a planet) orbits the sun making it a planet.

1. You are retarded. There are mentally disabled people, but you are retarded.
2. Please leave this planet. I actually kind of like it here.
3. The moon was never a planet, it was a meteor that crashed into magma state earth, and then got trapped in orbit.
4. Only things orbiting stars with enough mass are planets. The moon orbits earth.
You are so stupid, I actually cringed when I read this. Please get back in elementary school.

No, since the moon was never a planet and doesn't meet the criteria.
If you want to keep asking this question over and over about all kinds of objects, that's your choice. Obviously you are bored with your life and don't have anything better to do.

The earth and the moon rotate about one another, but the earth is much more massive so the center of gravity of the system is quite near the earth. It is reasonable, but not necessary, to think of it as a planet.

How many times do you plan on posting the same question?
