Won't happen. If they did visit, it would be embarrassing, given the way human beings behave. What makes you think they would be stupid enough to give us any more knowledge and technology? We can't handle what we've already got.

I would be thankful, but also, if they're anything like humans, it would mean that they would want to bring a few of us back to their planet, they would monitor us, and they would try to colonize our planet when we were done with it. So, I would be a bit suspicious.
