Humans, being a social species, have evolved the mental ability to quickly process and visually assess peoples' faces. But, due to this ability, our minds have a tendency to see "faces" in objects that are otherwise not people. Think about when you look at a car, do you ever think you can see a "face" in it with the headlights being eyes and the grill being a mouth? Likewise in the case of the Mars "face" it's just some hills and shadows that our minds like to perceive as a face.

There are pictures of a face on Mars. It is apparently a coincidental pairing of shadow and angle of photography. Basically, there is a picture of a face on Mars but, if you were standing beside it, it wouldn't really resemble a face.

There is something that looks like a face from a far away distance, but the closer you get to it, the wider the space that resembles a face becomes. I am sure that parts of our planet may resemble a face or something from a certain distance and angle as well. The same as the moon. Very interesting to think about though.
