Why do we "float" on the moon

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-03-24] [Hit: ]
There is hour after hour of film and TV footage of astronauts staying firmly on the surface. They never float. They jump higher and fall slower, but they certainly do not float, and there are plenty of times when they fall over and make quite firm and unexpected contact with the ground.-We dont float on the Moon.......
I was wondering why we "float" on the moon when for example a person that weighs 600N on the earth would weigh 100N on the moon, but someone that weighs 100N on the earth wouldn't float.
Thanks.

You don't float on the moon. You just weigh less. Weight is an effect of gravity and the moon has a lower gravitational pull than the earth (about 1/6th of the gravity of earth).

Where do you get this idea that someone wouldn't stay firmly on the surface? There is hour after hour of film and TV footage of astronauts staying firmly on the surface. They never 'float'. They jump higher and fall slower, but they certainly do not float, and there are plenty of times when they fall over and make quite firm and unexpected contact with the ground.

We don't "float" on the Moon..... Where did you get that idea? Have you never watched video of the Apollo astronauts on the Moon? They weren't floating. They could skip and jump really high....because they're using muscles that are developed for pushing around 6 times as much weight as they have to on the Moon. But they hardly "float".

the moon is half water, that's why. the other half of the moon is made of cheese.

The gravity on the moon pulls with significantly less force, making us weigh less and fall slower. People don't actually float on the moon, they kind of glide because they simply fall slower.

We; i.e. you and I, you and (inclusive) as a group.

"We" have never been to the moon, therefore "we" don't float!

-
the greater the mass the more gravity it pulls

-
People don't float on the Moon, they ARE attached to the ground.

-
No gravitational pull
