I saw this in the sky a few hours ago, and I'm wondering what it was. I think it was a planet and a star, because the one on top was twinkling (like a star) and the one on the bottom wasn't, and was yellow. Does anyone have any ideas? I've considered aliens.

Two points in space can always be connected with a line, so that is nothing unusual.
I know Venus and Jupiter are very close to one another these days, and they are both extremely bright. My guess is you saw them. Or else, you saw a star and Saturn (which is yellowish) or a faint Mars (which is red, but can have an off-red colour when faint). Planets don't twinkle.

Because we live on a spherical planet which rotates rapidly, it is necessary to know where you are located, what time this was, and where in the sky these objects were located (NSEW, altitude). However, I'll hazaard a guess: if this was early in the evening and they were in the west, what you saw was the current pairing of the planets Jupiter (the fainter yellow one) and Venus (the brighter one). Nothing strange about either of them.
Why on Earth would you consider aliens?

No, it was probally just one of the planets orbititng the sun. it just happened to look like it was under a star. Aliens are not real, it fyou think they are. Well then look at this: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=giorgio%20a.%20tsoukalos&source=video&cd=3&ved=0CEMQtwIwAg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DjDKvWiToj8Y&ei=au1dT6jEHM_oggf_o6zBBg&usg=AFQjCNGw2WT0t68VhGca17taOCdy5mUQZw

Venus and Jupiter were right close to each other last night, from our point of view on earth. Very beautiful, no?

Planets can "twinkle" if the seeing is very bad.
