Do you believe in NASA's claim that their maybe another earth on the other side of the galaxy

EDIT: Robert... LOL Ill answer to most anything! I do agree that there is a lot to be cynical about these days, but I still like to believe that scientists are,......

It is sad to think that nasa used to be a great organisation. Is this the same organisation that landed men on the moon? Hard to believe isn't it.

Cheers!

Cynic. I absolutely believe it.

From an announcement that I read:
"Since Kepler-22B takes 290 days to orbit its sun, it took nearly three Earth years for scientists to confirm that it was a planet. Steve Howell, a scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center who's on the Kepler team, {said} that scientists first noticed the a drop in light only days after Kepler was launched in 2009."

NASA is not the only group that does astronomical research. If they sat on this for a few years, someone else probably would have also made that discovery and announced it. There is little that the scientific community - government based or independent - can keep secret because so many individuals and groups are doing overlapping research.

EDIT: Robert... LOL I'll answer to most anything! I do agree that there is a lot to be cynical about these days, but I still like to believe that scientists are, by and large, more responsible than politicians and government administrators.

"Do you believe in NASA's claim that their maybe another earth on the other side of the galaxy?"

The observations are of a somewhat earthlike planet at a similar sort of distance from a star.

"It seems like every time NASA needs funds or is threatened with losing funds, out of the blue they come with these EXTRAORDINARY DISCOVERIES!"

I don't know why you find it extraordinary. Given the number of stars in this galaxy, it would be extraordinary if there weren't any somewhat earthlike planets at a similar sort of distance from a star.

"I don't buy it for second."

And I don't buy cabbage. I don't like the stuff.
