Also, I seem to recall that the big-minded fellow who set the US on the course to the moon might've been a Democrat of some sort, but I can't speak for the entire Democratic Party.

Here's the truth. You deport someone and he is back on a bus to the US in 15 minutes. Will he get caught? Odds are in his favor that he won't. If he does... 15 minutes later he is on another bus.
Having illegal aliens will never end until the country they come from stops it or is someplace they actually want to stay.

Just because Edwards thought that it wasn't possible to deport undocumented workers doesn't mean that he thinks the moon landing was staged. Nor does it mean all democrats or even all politicians are "small minded". He probably is right in one aspect. Deporting all of the undocumented workers would be a logistical nightmare. Even if the U.S. deported such workers, they would still come back. We're just paying for the bus service.
As great as the U.S. is now, other countries are starting to catch up and surpass us with much better infrastructure and space programs while we are defunding ours. I'm sure this is what "big minded" people do, but I have no idea what the difference between a "big mind" and a "small mind" is unless they are pseudonyms for Republican and Democrat.
