Alright already! I want people to start going to Mars and other planets. When will this be?

Why would we want to? Antarctica on earth is a lush tropical rain forest compared to even the most hospitable regions on Mars. If the lack of air, water and 40 degrees below zero were not enough to discourage a person, there is also the fact the planet is bathed in deadly radiation every time the sun produces solar flares. This is not a problem on earth because of our natural magnetic field. Mars died geologically 2 billion years ago and has lost the one it had, along with its oceans and atmosphere. If the question to the answer is one about running out of living spaces on earth, may I suggest we devote more of our time to exploring the deep sea, which covers 3/4 of the earth's surface. More is known about Mars than our own oceans. It would be far less expensive to colonize the deep sea than trying to live on a dead, radioactive planet.

We'll send someone to Mars when we're ready. We're not ready yet. If you become an aerospace engineer, you could contribute to this effort.

I agree! We should be out of our solar system already searching for life. However, our government is bankrupt for the time being. :(
