Are wild crabs safe to eat?????

I'm going camping and there is a stream/river with wild crabs, if I cook a hot pot of water and throw the crab in, would it be safe to eat?

.Yes they are. Check with your DNR about the water quality of your selected stream. They will let you know how safe it is in your area. In Lake Michigan there is a high danger warning on eating almost every kind of marine animal Fish, crayfish etc.Men should restrict their diet to once a Month. Women should refrain until they are beyond childbearing age. Children should also restrict their intake until they are adults. Almost every state that tests their waters has some restriction. Some are quite specific as to the polluted water ways.

The crabs are exothermic. Put them in cold water and ;heat it to boiling. When the temperature reaches about 90 they will die gently. Bay seasoning out of Baltimore is an excellent addition to your boiled crab. They have some great recipes on their can. What you don't use up in the ;crab feast you can use on other things. I love it. The Vikings at them for thousands of years. They import a lot of crayfish from America. The Creoles of the south still use them in their Jumboliya. Just check you water quality first.
