Some type of wild animal

So, walking along the railroad tracks, I've heard some noises of a large animal moving around at night time only. Now, I live in a small town in Ohio, near Columbus. Well, the other day I saw it. It appeared to be a tan/gray color and it was in broad daylight. It was about the size of a small mountain lion, but it was different. It had a longer nose like a canine and it was stalky like a feline but the legs were also canine and the tail was different. My question is..what kind of animal could it be? I've never seen it. I've alerted authorities about it but they did nothing and told me I was probably seeing things. I know I wasn't but I just want to know what it is/ could be. Someone help???

COYOTE....or more likely...just a stray dog.

Most likely a coyote. A coyote is about the size between a fox and a wolf. They are very common and where I live uses them often

Sounds like a fox to me...
