I would like to know since I heard there are some animals that do have this type of relationship. I know penguins, not mates for life, but do stay with the same mate for around 2 years until they move on...

To say 'penguins' mate for life (or don't) would be neither completely true or completely false, as it depends on the species. Wolves do not necessarily mate for life, but the bond between the pair tends to be a lot stronger than the bond between others. Some animals seek new mates once one of the pair dies, while others will simply stop mating.
Here are some that could fit your criteria:
Gibbon
Swan
Black vulture
French angelfish
Albatross
Osprey

Bald eagles, swans and wolves are another three that mate for life.
