So who wins? I'm talking 2 fully grown males, land or water.
-
In the water, the crocodile wins. On land, the lion may be able to kill a crocodile unless it can escape back to the water. That is because a crocodile can become fatigued and overheated much more easily on land, but it has the advantage in the water because it can swim better than a lion. It can for example grab onto a lion's leg and drown the lion by dragging it under water.

Crocodile.
Croc grabs lion's leg, won't let go. Croc goes under water, lions drowns.
Lion teeth and claws are NOT strong enough to penetrate croc hide. If croc on lad, croc just crawls away, unharmed.
. . . .or grabs lion by leg and drags him into water to drown.

Water - Crocodile. It's no contest, there's a reason the lions don't go swimming.
Land - Lion, but only because the crocodile will just get tired and die of exhaustion/lactic acid build up, not because of anything the lion has done.

A lion can't penetrate crocodile skin. A crocodile would win.
