Okay, I know that there are many people on here who are not from the Midwestern, or Southern United States. But why are we having tornado outbreaks in January and February? There is even a chance of a tornado outbreak tomorrow.
I am not an old man, but I am old enough to know that this simply doesn't happen. This is the first time I have ever seen anything like this. What's going on?

I m in the Uk and we have also had some strange weather patterns of late such as siberian temperatures (-10 to -20 Celsius)
And according to weather experts and the meter-logical centers this may have been a result of melting polar ice caps which have effected to gulf stream winds and made them weaker allowing stronger winds from the east (Russia, Siberia) to bring in a cold front and much lower temperatures...maybe a similar reason has caused you're crazy weather as well

As Supercell pointed out, this isn't without precedence. We had a strong La Nina last winter, and a moderate-strong La Nina this past winter. History shows that in the spring following a moderate and strong La Nina, there is an up tic in severe weather, and the severe weather often starts earlier. With a moderate or strong La Nina, the southern jet stream tends to be dominate, which leads to more clashes of warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, and cold, dry air from Canada- prime ingredients for severe weather.
There is nothing unusual about La Nina cycles- they have occurred since before humans appeared on the scene. The difference now, is that we have a 24 hour news cycle, with instantaneous, or near instantaneous, media access to these events as they happen.

It most certainly does happen. There were tornadoes last year in January and February too. I believe 2008 was the last "big" year for winter tornadoes, but I've been awake for too long today to trust my memory exactly right now. Also it's the start of meteorological spring today..storm season.
Thanks for the actual data, Todd! My brain cells were exhausted on listening to presentations at NSWW all day.

its just the temperature changes and the warm front goes around with the cold front now often and the weather is going crazy because soon tornado season will start and its getting close for the two fronts
