My teacher which has been a RN for over 20 years says the only way you can get the cold virus is through someone else. And that if you go out in 20 degrees, wet weather for 3 hours you will still not get a cold. What's true?

That is 100% true
cold weather does not get you cold. Contact with the common cold virus will get you a cold
The only health problems you can get with the cold are hypothermia and frostbite. Cold, wet weather can make a cold get much worse (by added stress on the body) but it will not give you a cold
