If the earth is a sphere, why don't we fall off when it rotates on its axis every day?

Mike say: Our feet.

Ning say: The earth is indeed sphere. On the center point lies the Gravitational pull which keeps us contracted to the ground.

Huh!? say: There is no true up or down in space. There is no surface to swim up to and get some oxygen in space. According to Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation (all laws are fundamental mathematical formulas of the universe), every object with mass is attracted to every other object with mass. If we were standing in a room, I would be gravitationally attracted to you, but in comparison 0.0000000000000000000000001% attracted to you compared to how attracted I am to the earth. (I made up that percentage but it's very small in comparison). Basically small objects are gravitationally pulled towards larger objects and the direction that they are pulled towards is down. While you are attracted to a skyscraper that's nothing towards how attracted you are towards the center of the earth no matter where you are in relationship to it, and again that direction is down.

So when you are upside down on earth in your imagination on a piece of paper. You can't fall off the earth because there is no direction that is true up or down in space. You can't swim up towards a 1 sided surface, so you can't sink, and you remove the water molecules from your hypothetical swimming pool (without a surface with air at the top) which is space and you replace all those water molecules a big vacuum of nothing and asteroids, you still can't sink (fall).

Down is the an object on the earth being pulled towards the center of the massive earth. Now I don't need to explain why you just don't go crashing through the hard bedrock of the earth by the force of earth's gravity, do I? I think the answer is pretty obvious: The normal force from your perspective.

Gary B say: Gravity
-
Kevin say: The Bible is silent on that point.
-
Nyx say: Also, you are moving at the same velocity as the planet.
-
Bill say: Simple Clear Explanation: GRAVITY
and your wrong. There is no up or down in space.
-
Myles say: It's a little known thing called gravity. The earth is a big mass and we are smaller masses. Those masses are attracted.
-
Hindusufi say: Gravity pulls toward center of mass, the center of earth is a center of mass for example.
