What are the two major types of traveling waves

its a question in physics
i think i know what it is but some help from you guys would be great thanks

Longitudinal and Transverse

Longitudinal waves vibrate in a direction parallel to the direction of movement. Sound waves
Transverse wave vibrate in a direction normal to the direct of movement. Surface waves in the ocean

Transverse waves (stuff wiggling at right angles to the direction of motion as with waves on water) and compression waves (stuff wiggling in the direction of motion) With earthquakes, the faster and thus "primary" waves are compression and the slower thus "secondary" waves are transverse.
