How to find the speed of light

000,I know from the answer given that the speed of light is about 300,000,000m/s. But it doesnt show any work. How do I find it?......
I'm doing physics, and I'm trying to figure out how to find the speed of light. The word problem gives me these numbers.

echo time for light to reflect from earth to moon = 2.51 seconds

distance from earth to moon = 376,000,000m

I know from the answer given that the speed of light is about 300,000,000m/s. But it doesn't show any work.

How do I find it?

Thank you

You would divide the distance given by the amount of time it takes for the light reflected to bounce back.

(376,000,000 m) *2/ 2.51 s = 752,000,000 m / 2.51 s which approximately equals 300,000,000 m/s

You multiply the distance by 2 because the light is traveling from the moon and back

You do realize that speed is distance divided by time, right?

How far does the light travel? Since it's bouncing off the moon, it's twice the distance between, right?

How long does it take? You're given that.

So, how would you calculate the speed? Distance divided by time. Do the arithmetic.

speed = distance / time

= 2 × 376,000,000m / 2.51s

= 7,520,000,000 / 2.51s

= 299,601,594

≈ 300,000,000
